Description

How Does a Cold Air Intake Work and Why Should I Replace the One That Came With My Vehicle?

In a standard air intake system, air passes through a disposable paper filter and then flows into the engine through a complex system of tubing. K&N cold air intake systems provide a less restrictive path for airflow, increasing the volume of cool, oxygen-rich air into your engine. A performance air filter is paired with specially designed tubing and a custom air box or heat shield (engineered to protect the intake air from the heat of the engine), which in combination deliver a guaranteed increase in horsepower and torque.

Legendary K&N Quality & Reliability

K&N Cold Air Intake Guaranteed to Increase Horsepower and Torque

K&N Intake Kit Provides More Engine Growl

K&N Cold Air Intake System Proudly Made in the USA

Increased Horsepower & Torque- Guaranteed

Yes, K&N intakes really do increase horsepower and torque; in fact, it’s guaranteed. Each intake kit undergoes significant testing to help ensure that the air filter and intake tube are positioned to deliver large increases in airflow and horsepower.

Less Restriction = More Engine Growl

By removing excess stock baffles, you get to enjoy a satisfying engine growl on acceleration that returns to quiet once at speed. The amount of growl is all in your hands… or should we say feet. Growl while accelerating on the open road and return to quiet as you drive through your neighborhood.

Proudly Made in the USA

K&N products are designed and manufactured on-site, and all of our Cold Air Intakes are made in the USA. K&N is headquartered in Riverside, California, and also operates facilities in Grand Prairie, Texas. Our US based, knowledgeable customer support staff is available to assist you with any questions or concerns.

K&N Engine Air Filter- Nothing Beats the Original

No Substitution for the Original- The Difference a K&N Filter Makes in Your Vehicle

Increased performance starts with K&N’s reusable, air filter, which combines layers of pleated, breathable cotton with K&N’s signature red filter oil. Paper air filters, while efficient, can become quickly clogged as their pores fill with dirt and debris. K&N’s oiled cotton filter absorbs dirt and dust particles rather than physically blocking them. The tacky, oiled particles that collect in the filter become an asset to the filtration rather than an obstacle, capturing new particles entering the system while still allowing a high volume of airflow to pass through. This allows clean air to continue flowing into your engine.

Unlike disposable paper filters, which typically last for 12-15,000 miles before they must be replaced, the high-performance K&N filter included with your intake can go up to 75,000 miles before needing to be cleaned (under normal driving conditions).

Why is Dyno Testing Important & How Can I Tell if It’s Accurate?

K&N’s air intake horsepower/torque testing is performed at our in-house facilities in Riverside, CA on wheel-based dynamometers and help provide a power estimate that is likely to more closely reflect real-world conditions than an engine-based dynamometer. K&N’s standard testing is designed to measure relative power differences on a vehicle with and without K&N products installed, and SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) correction factors are utilized to help ensure accuracy. If you notice horsepower claims from other manufacturers that seem too good to be true, we encourage you to do your own research. Check the dynamometer reports for vehicles, dates tested, and if correction factors are used.

How Does a K&N Intake Protect Your Engine?

Most disposable paper filters create a large amount of airflow restriction, as the openings in the filter media have to be extremely small to filter efficiently—which slows airflow. Because dust accumulates on the surface of the disposable filter and blocks the openings in the media, the filter will typically become increasingly more restrictive to airflow over time. Conversely, K&N oiled filters are engineered to become more efficient over their recommended service life as dirt and contaminants are integrated into the filter media, while still allowing a high volume of air through to the system. This allows you to continue to get the performance you expect from your K&N intake, while also being able to rely on the cutting-edge efficiency and protection that a K&N oiled air filter provides.

What’s the Difference Between a Roto-Molded and an Aluminum Intake Tube?

Both a Roto-Molded and an Aluminum Intake Tube from K&N provide the same increase of air flow to your engine. It all comes down to how you want it to look in your vehicle. If you enjoy a more custom look under the hood, the Aluminum Tube is a great choice.

What Does the Heat Shield Do and Is That Better Than a Closed Air Box?

Both the custom heat shield and HDPE air box help protect the incoming air from the heat of your engine. They both have unique features and which one you choose is a personal preference based on those features. High-performance drivers may want an open filter element and heat shield for even greater airflow. Off-roaders may prefer an intake system with a custom air box, which helps protect against dust, dirt, and moisture and offers additional filter protection from extremely dirty environments or water crossings. Options with an enclosed air box give you the freedom to adventure while offering easy access to the air filter for quick cleaning and maintenance — no special tools required.

  5. Tmoney

I installed this product on my 2002 Corvette and it made gave it a large amount of low end torque. Product works great, the instructions on cutting the radiator to make the flap in my opinion was hard to follow. Little better instructions and I would have had the product installed in around 2 hours.
